How a Vacation Heals

I didn’t realize how badly I needed a vacation. I’m seeing a general improvement in my studies now - even hearing the word “studies” fills me with an unimaginable joy and indescribably feeling. It’s as though I could take those “studies” and gobble them whole, as though they were a form of fine cuisine. And yet, they do feel filling, as holding a brand new book does. If you know this feeling, then you must be an avid reader, because there isn’t another feeling like holding a brand new book. The smell of it, the look of the text that has not yet been blotted or spoiled by human hands, as library books have. Library books feel dull and empty, as though their life has run out, but new books from the store have a magic within them. It’s a magic that says, “This book is my book. The knowledge within is mine alone to consume, to drink in its entirety.” Likewise, the thought of “drinking” the contents of a book also brings a pleasurable feeling. Oddly, I’m finding knowledge, much like books, once again tasty.

I’m baaaaaaaack!

Whew! What a fun trip! I’ve got some great photos to share, as well as my short story, Utopian Dream 2, which I’m finishing up (I was too relaxed to write an entire half of a story :P), and some half-done sketches of the view of the lake and some cool flora. The photos are mainly of this lake and the botanical garden we visited.

That being said, if you are going to Florida and will be around Miama, please check out the Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens - they’re absolutely spectacular. We went to see the Chihuly glasswork, but left knowing we saw the beautiful and refreshing displays of plants in the world.

I’ll be entering the photo contest to get one of my photos into their 2008 calendar. There’s one photo I have that I really like, and another on that I feel is meritable as well. Besides that, the rest will probably end up on the entrance page of the blog or something, at some point or another.

We’re off to the see the Wizard!

…if the wizard was a state in the southern area of North America whose name happened to start with an F an end with a -lorida.

See you all next Thursday - I’ll be back with sketches, writings, and memories. Adios!

Vagabond 2

A while back (a very while back) I wrote a poem called Vagabond, where I never explicitly stated that the man in question was a Vagabond. here is the sequel to that poem, when the man finally reaches the town, or “post” (as in a watchpost) he set off for:

Vagabond 2

The eye hath now return’d again
And my new post awaits, my friend
O! To live, be here, then gone
Such is the life of a vagabond.

Adventurer’s spirit, will and eye
What once evaded for the sky,
Now emulated, and here is done
All traveling of the vagabond.

So here it is, in all its splendor!
To think, me called the Great Pretender
Such is nonsense, rumors drawn
Of this there is no vagabond.

Now you’ve seen, my friend, and moved
And with you changed your attitude
You’re with me, and we are one
So now who is the vagabond?

Vista: Now Playing

A hard day’s work went in to getting this computer up to speed - and I still have to finish my honors project before 3pm tomorrow. You’ll see recordings popping out of nowhere, sheet musics flying around, and my computer’s 64-bit add getting kicked for not dishing the material out fast enough.

Yes, I said 64-bit. Jason is the future. The future is I. And since Vista, most everything can be foundfor the 64-bit platform. So I said, why not jump the boat and do it? My Athlon 64 has been waiting over a year to get some hot 64-bit computing action on, and I couldn’t deny it any longer.

So I am now running Vista. The box is cool, and the OS is cool. And I’ll be silently rebuilding my computer day by day, bringing it back to life, just like The Monster…

Finally, an update

The Maple Story Soundtrack has finally undergone a major update, one that has been put off due to computer troubles since around Christmas! I do hope you all enjoy it. :)

On another note, look for the Golden Sun OST - it might start popping up in pieces here and there.
