Back from Portugal

filed under: , , , ,

It’s been wild ten days, but now I’m home for the summer. I’ve been in Portugal, actually, with the Lehigh University Choir, and we’ve been touring around Lisbon and the greater Lisbon area performing in various churches and palaces. Needless to say, it was an incredible experience! Although I didn’t write a journal like I did last time I went touring Europe in 2006, I did document the trip with over 1700 photos. Expect to see those photos appear sometime in the near future – or at least the good ones!

To my choirmates, awesome trip. We showed Portugal what good choral music sounds like! I hope the next tour is just as good, if not better. Now I think I’ll put my feet up and relax for the summer – at least until I get a job, finish up the new Lehigh Choir website, and fix up ZU and add some nice new content to the place. (Seriously, there’s cool stuff coming to ZU!)

Tah tah!

Portugal

I go to Portugal. See if I brought you any souvenirs.Between May 6th and 15th, the Lehigh University Choir and Choral Union took a wonderful trip abroad – to Portugal! Needless to say, I was there looking like the paparazzi with my Nikon DSLR, catching all the shots I could find. Although many of the photos shown below were selected because I feel they are the most artistically sound shots I took, I’ve also included a good amount of more “fun” shots – the candid and interesting shots of the choir I took over the course of the trip, as well as the non-artistic shots that display Portugal’s landmarks.

The shot to the left – with the rainbow and the boat – was one of the most spectacular moments of the entire trip. Those shots are actually collaborations between myself and my good friend Will Frece, who himself is quite a skilled photographer – mostly likely much moreso than myself. We were both absolutely thrilled to find that rainbow!

Integrated Business and Engineering

filed under: , , ,

ibe-thumbAs freshman students in the Integrated Business and Engineering (IBE) Freshman Workshop course, which I colloquially refer to as product design and development, we were first tasked with creating a logo that we thought would best represent our IBE class. The best logo, selected by the professor and a panel of “judges” (aka our TA’s), would represent our class of IBE.

Although there were some fine contenders, the logo to your left emerged victorious. The prize? Our entire class received a drawstring tote bag with the logo printed upon it. Oh, and we got a box of Oreo cookies, too. Yum!

Venti

filed under: , , , , , ,

venti-thumbVenti was the brainchild of Megan Cain, a quick-witted woman who could always see what people wanted. Megan’s idea for a simple humidifier that could fit anywhere inside of a car was one of eleven ideas that made it passed the planning stage in my product design and development course (or “IBE Workshop”). I was assigned to the Vehicle Humidifier team, working with Megan Cain as well as two other classmates, Jen Pinga and Alex Lee.

Together, we built up the product you see to your left. After several sessions on various chalkboards discussing the benefits of each design, we settled on a cup – and from there I developed a final design, name and logo, and marketing campaign for the product.

The result? Venti was the most recognizable name in the class by the end of the semester, and everybody knew our slogan and our product. The distinctive, clean art style of the product’s site, marketing and poster prevailed. So, hats off to the Venti team – great work, guys!

If you’re curious about Venti, have a look at the technical poster below. It will tell you how Venti works, more about our design and mission, and even lay out our financial model for Venti success.
